Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper was a serial killer in England around 1888. Attacks from the Ripper were typically involving female prostitutes. From at least three of the victims some internal organs were taken out making people believe the Ripper had surgical knowledge. The victims were Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly. The women were very violently cut open and killed.The name of the Ripper came from a letter that was written and sent around that was claimed to be the letters of Jack the Ripper.The letter is believed to be a hoax and written by journalists to heighten the interest of the story. Wineville Chicken Coop Murders
In 1926 there was a 19-year old named Gordon Stewart Northcott had kidnapped, molested, beaten and killed three young boys with the help of his mother. Northcott also killed a Mexican youth and forced his nephew Stanford to help in the disposing of the head. Police found not complete bodies, but they found a blood-stained axe, and some body parts including fingers, hair, and bones. All of the body parts and remains of the boys was found by the chicken house.
H.H. Holmes
Dr. Henry Howard Holmes in 1893 opened a hotel in Chicago which he designed with the idea of murder in mind. Holmes purchased a drugstore and a lot across from it where he built a three-story, block-long “Castle” or later known as the hotel he opened. After finishing the building of the hotel he selected some female victims he would also kill his lovers and house guests. Some guests got locked in soundproof rooms that were filled with gas lines so they could be killed at any time. When the people had died they would be dropped into the basement and some would be cremated. Holmes had two giant furnaces as well as a pit of acid for the bodies, bottles of different poisons and a stretching wrack. On May 7, 1896, Holmes was hanged at the Philadelphia County Prison. The number of people he killed is an estimated 20-100 or even as high as 200.
Aileen Wuornos
Aileen Wuornos was a serial killer in Florida in 1989 and
1990.She was born in Michigan on February 19, 1956. Wuornos claimed to have been
raped by her victims when working as a prostitute and that she killed them in
self-defense. Wuornos was abandon by her mother so her and her brother lived
with their grandparents. She said her grandfather had sexually assaulted and
beat her as a child. In 1970, at age 13, she became pregnant after being raped
by her grandfather’s friend. Wuornos had the baby and put it up for adaption. When her grandmother died from liver failure
she was kicked out of her house and started supporting herself as a prostitute to get money
she also dropped out of school. Wuornos had committed many smaller crimes
before her murders. In November 1922, Wuornos was charged with her fifth death
sentence. After being convicted and sentenced to death for six of the murders
she was executed by lethal injection in Florida on October 9, 2002.
