History vs Hollywood
Pearl Harbor happened on December 7, 1941,when hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The United States were particularly unhappy with Japan’s increasingly belligerent attitude toward China. The Japanese government believed that the only way to solve its economic and demographic problems was to expand into its neighbor’s territory and take over the import market. No one believed that the Japanese would start that war with an attack on American territory but they did and it lasted a few hours.
The movie was accurate in some parts because it showed the event as a realistic situation and emotions that people felt. It showed a relationship that many people may have gone through and the struggles of having a relationship with the men going to war. The movie is also unrealistic because the war was much more violent and the people involved would have had more symptoms of war or had body parts removed. The movie did a good job of making Pearl Harbor as realistic as possible with all the events without being too violent. The movie could have had more people effected by what went on.
